Family Law Judge Rotation

Commencing July 1, 2015, there will be a rotation in the family law judges in Leon County. Judge Dodson’s cases will be transferred to Judge Sjostrom and Judge Sjostrom’s cases will be transferred to Judge Francis. Thus, the family law judges will be Judge Cooper, Judge Sjostrom, and Judge Francis. Judge Fitzpatrick will continue to hear family law cases in Gadsden County, Judge Gievers will continue to hear all family law cases in Jefferson County, and Judge Caloca-Johnson will continue to hear all family law cases in Wakulla County

Vacant seat in Family Law Court

In Leon County, there are normally 3 judges assigned to the family law court. Judge George Reynolds III is the chief family law judge and has presided over the family law courts for numerous years. Judge Barbara Hobbs won the November 2012 election and will commence serving in the family law courts in January 2013. Currently, there is an opening for the third judge position due to Judge Mark Walker being appointed to the federal bench in December 2012. Hopefully, his replacement will be appointed by Governor Scott soon.
